Holistic mind therapy or HMT is a non-medical, non-invasive, natural healing method that has improved the lives of thousands of people.   HMT involves special techniques that are safe, relaxing, and easy to use.   HMT allows us access to the deepest part of our inner mind – our subconscious.   By tapping into this powerful part of our brain, we can make profound changes in our lives that lead to personal growth and understanding.  This extremely effective healing technique uses our subconscious mind to gain insight into areas of our lives that are causing us difficulty and distress.

HMT is based on the concept that each and every one of us has the ability to heal ourselves from the inside out.  Just as our inner mind can make us sick, we can also reverse that process in order to heal.  It is actually possible to connect with our subconscious mind to identify areas of our life that require work.  We can then take the necessary steps to restore ourselves to good health by using a variety of natural, holistic healing techniques.

HMT integrates certain important features of both hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Processing (NLP).  However, HMT is different in that it combines many different holistic healing methods, such as meditation, deep relaxation, guided visualization, hypnotherapy, age regression, herbal remedies, etc.  This enables the HMT practitioner to offer a therapeutic approach that is closely matched to the unique needs of each individual client.

HMT will actually transform the way a person views the world.  HMT is empowering, and allows us the freedom to live the life we have always wanted – bringing lasting peace and contentment.  Problems that have affected our physical and emotional well being no longer control us.  By opening our subconscious mind to positive healing energy, we are able to restore balance and happiness to our life.  Instead of feeling emotionally vulnerable and overwhelmed, it is possible to live a stable, fulfilling life, regardless of what happens on the outside.

By revealing the source of difficult feelings that hide just below our conscious awareness, we can start the important process of forgiving ourselves and others.  Problems that may have kept us stuck for years will be resolved.  Stress and anxiety will melt away as we experience inner peace and wellbeing.

Yes, hypnosis is used as part of our holistic mind therapy practice.  A deep state of focused relaxation is the most effective way to get in touch with our subconscious mind, and this is best achieved through hypnosis.  By combining verbal repetition with mental imagery, clients become open to positive suggestion, and improved methods of coping.

Age regression therapy is also used in order to access hidden memories of past events and allow clients to understand how destructive emotional responses are linked to the past.  By going back in time as an adult, it is possible to re-frame what happened, and move forward.  Age regression therapy results in profound, lasting change in a person’s life.

Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis in a therapeutic way to promote healing and personal growth.  During hypnotherapy, a person is able to gain access to their subconscious mind in order to create positive life changes and adaptations.  While hypnotised, a person will become more responsive to positive suggestions from the hypnotherapist.  In addition to this, hypnotherapy produces the ideal environment for an individual to reprogram the subconscious mind, so that deep-seated and destructive behaviour patterns and negative emotional responses are replaced by new healthy ways of living.

Hypnosis is a natural state of comfortable, relaxed focus. In fact, it is possible to momentarily drift in and out of this state throughout the day.  During the process of hypnosis, a person is encouraged to narrow his or her attention and enter a sleep-like trance.  Individuals who are hypnotised will appear extremely relaxed, highly focused, and open to suggestions.   Those people who lose track of time easily while absorbed in enjoyable activities or fantasies are especially responsive to hypnosis.

Rather than being deeply asleep, the hypnotised person is actually in an enhanced state of awareness – focused entirely on the voice of the hypnotist.  During hypnosis, a person’s conscious mind is suppressed, while the subconscious mind is open to new ideas and concepts.  The person’s breathing will become slower and deeper, their heart rate will drop, and their metabolism will slow.  A person’s awareness of unpleasant sensations such as pain or nausea will lessen.  However, they will remain fully aware of their surroundings and general situation.

People think all kinds of strange things about hypnosis, including believing that it is somehow dangerous.  Myths about hypnosis are plentiful, and perpetuate the mistaken idea that hypnosis is a risky and foolish endeavour that will make you look ridiculous and feel stupid.  Some people think that it is possible to go into a trance and not be able to wake up!  These things are untrue.  You are always in control, and can easily return to a full waking state.

Hypnotherapy is an extremely helpful healing method that works with a wide variety of issues and complaints.  However, it is important to always involve a physician or other medical professional in your overall treatment plan.  Some mental health conditions that seriously impact a person’s ability to focus will not respond well to hypnotherapy.  In cases such as these, a mental health professional may recommend hypnotherapy as a supplementary treatment.

Let me guess... you've seen a stage show where a hypnotist made people do all sorts of crazy things in front of an enthusiastic audience. Or, perhaps your experience of hypnosis comes from pop culture upheld in Hollywood movies and on television. Unfortunately, these diversions paint hypnosis in a bad light, creating mistrust and distracting people from the positive therapeutic benefits of hypnosis.

If you’ve ever observed a hypnotist during a stage show, you will see that he carefully chooses his participants, selecting people that are most likely to want to entertain in front of an audience.  There are also plenty of assistants on hand to assist the hypnotist “weed out” any participants who might be uncomfortable performing, or wary about the hypnosis process.

All forms of hypnosis including hypnotherapy require voluntary participation on the part of the person being hypnotized.  Hypnosis cannot make you do something that is against your moral or ethical values, nor can you be tricked into adopting harmful or damaging behavior.

No, it is not possible to lose control of yourself while under hypnosis.  Everything that happens when a person is hypnotized is still under their personal control.  During hypnosis, one becomes more open and receptive to suggestion.  However, the choice on whether or not to act on this suggestion, still lies with the individual.

Participants who behave bizarrely during hypnosis stage shows are performers at heart, and therefore likely to be at ease with any “unusual” suggestions put out by the hypnotist.

The cost of hypnotherapy varies from city to city and from professional to professional, with the average falling somewhere between $125 and $225 per session.   A typical hypnotherapy session lasts between an hour and an hour and a half, although again there may be considerable variation on a case by case basis.

Some Hypnotherapists offer a flat rate for special programs such as smoking cessation or weight loss.  This approach encourages clients to attend all their sessions, and receive important follow-up care that is essential to success when changing deeply established habits and behavior.

The most important thing to remember when choosing a hypnotherapist is that you want someone you will be able to trust.  It is very difficult if not impossible to relax, when you are uncomfortable with your hypnotherapist, or lack confidence in his or her ability.

Other important considerations include the hypnotherapist’s background, training, qualifications, code of ethics, and general disposition.  A good hypnotherapist will be happy to answer any questions, and willing to provide information in a friendly and easy to understand manner.  You should also enjoy listening to your hypnotherapist’s voice, and find the tone to be pleasing and calming.

Before you actually begin the hypnosis session, your hypnotherapist should establish a therapeutic relationship with you, and build rapport.  If at any time, you feel that something is not quite right, feel free to end the session and try a different hypnotherapist.

Self-hypnosis is a wonderful tool to help manage the stress of modern living.  By learning to calm and quiet the mind, you will be able to receive positive healing energy whenever you need it, and restore your mind and body to a peaceful state of good health.  Self-hypnosis also puts you firmly in control of your life, and protects you from feeling overwhelmed and pressured by life’s difficult challenges.

In addition to this, self-hypnosis also helps build on any sessions that you have worked on with a hypnotherapist.  By practicing and repeating what you have been learning, it is possible to make great progress and enhance the therapeutic benefits of hypnotherapy.

Positive affirmations were originally used following hypnosis, as a means of instilling positive and upbeat messages into the subconscious mind.  However, over time, hypnosis was gradually discontinued, and people started to use positive affirmations all on their own or following meditation.

While positive affirmations offer a helpful form of personal encouragement, the actual impact on the subconscious is limited.  Without hypnosis first creating the ideal context for the subconscious mind to receive and hold onto the suggestions that are being recited, it is unlikely that one will be able to make lasting life changes or alter firmly established behavior patterns.

By contrast, hypnotherapy is especially effective at eliminating undesired behavior and reprogramming any ineffective responses to life problems.   Since the conscious mind is temporarily stilled during hypnosis, direct communication with the inner mind is possible, allowing suggestions to be absorbed deep into the subconscious.
